FLY MOMMIE FRIDAY – Raeven Western | Aries

Tell us a little about yourself?

I am a Mother, fashion model and certified life coach with a passion to curate projects that empower and inspire people from the inside out. Born and raised in NYC, I have a daughter that is closing in on 4 years old and it’s been one interesting transition into motherhood.

What excites you most about Motherhood?

The growth you witness between your child and yourself. As well as the challenges that remind you that it is all temporary.

What is the one most important thing you hope to teach your daughter?

Identifying what a healthy relationship looks like from within.

Tell us one thing that you have learned since becoming a mom?

Not to be so hard on myself. We do a lot as parents and it’s easy to get caught up and forget all that we do and all that gets poured from our souls. So reminding myself often to zen out and also have patience for others. Because at the end of the day, we’re all doing our best.

What are you most looking forward to?

The conversations we’ll have the insights I’ll gain from her point of view and thoughts.

What are some of your favorite things? Think Oprah lol

I cherish bath time now more than ever, a good book and a yummy glass of wine. Life has become a bit more simplistic for me now more than ever.

What or who inspires you?

Moms are definitely my biggest inspiration. You really don’t know or can begin to grasp the amount of emotional, physically or non stop thinking that happens within a day for a mom, but most importantly the mountains that get moved every day because of Moms.

How would you describe your style?

Minimalistic, semi girlie, semi tomboyish

What’s favorite recipe to cook for your family?

Rice and beans with a mixture of oven roasted veggies. She tends to clean the plate for that.

What makes your soul happy?

Nurturing it. A bath. A workout. Meditating.

What do you wish you had more time for?

I would love to travel more as well as work on personal projects.

Now tell us, what’s in your purse Fly Mommie?

lol, the basics! Wallet, hand cream, lip gloss, a book or journal and my phone.

I have to be honest…I was pretty horrible with my skincare routine in my thirties but I have learned to not neglect myself now thank god! I’m not going down without a fight. LOL.  So what beauty brands do you use and what’s your beauty routine?

I’m currently using, Murad day and night cream, Kiehls face mask and creamy avocado eye cream and Fresh rose spray.

What’s your biggest financial accomplishment, (i.e. bought property, maxed out your 401K, Sent kids to college with no debt)?

We are still climbing that latter!

With accomplishments come fear and as moms, we’re always worried right?  What’s your biggest money fear?

To be honest, not being able to provide for my child and myself. Being single and a Mother has had me in my moments of thinking about my worst case scenarios.

What advice would you give your 21 year old self?

Be in a relationships with people that supports your emotional wellbeing and challenge you to dream bigger.

After feelings of self-doubt, fear or feeling depleted, how do you find your way back to center?

If I’m at that point, I’m most likely exhausted. And if I’m not exhausted, I’m stressing over something. So it’s either a bath and goodnight of sleep or prayer and journaling.

What is your mantra?

It’s all temporary.

What are you passionate about?

Building healthy relationships and support women’s wellness.

Do you belong to or donate your time to any charitable/philanthropic organizations and if so, which ones?

No, but it’s definitely on my to do list.

I met Raeven through instagram.  Motherhood and our like-minded passion to see women thrive and expand and be their truest, best selves connected us.  I immediately thought… wow she’s Fly!  Simply because of her work and what she represented on IG.  Well her beauty is pretty captivating too I must say!  I mean damn!  LOL.

I was blessed to be a part of her ProjectMotherHOOD and I feel just as blessed that I get to interview her for FlyMommieFriday.  She’s undeniably Fly not only for her outward beauty, amazing fashion sense and effortless style but more so because of how she shows up as a mother to her beautiful daughter.  It’s truly a special thing to witness as she cultivates such a beautiful, honest, loving relationship all while juggling her career and her projects.  Her candor, transparency and humility is so refreshing in a world that is filled with so much fluff and BS.   Raeven is Fly because she does “Women’s Work” unapologetically and in a way that makes other women feel comfortable, validated and accepted.

So yeah, Raeven is a Fly Mommie because she doesn’t let the world in which she exists in as a model consume her or define her.  I truly believe her inner beauty rivals that of her stunning outward beauty.  Imagine that!  Now that’s Fly!
